Missions Update

Missions in Nicaragua

God is really working in Harrisonburg and around the world. We are excited to share with you some changes in our mission plans. As time has passed since we felt the nudge to go into missions, the children’s home in Honduras has flourished. The couple that is taking care of the children has made arrangements to live near his family so the community can help raise the children. This is more culturally normal for the children so they will stay immersed in their culture. We are excited for them and pray for them often. As a result, for us another door has opened. We are now looking to start a new children's home in Nicaragua and we will work with the teams that come from the States during our initial time there. It will take six months to a year to establish foster parent status in Nicaragua, so when we leave in the spring of 2009, our focus will be helping with the teams and finding suitable housing for the home. When our papers are official, we will immediately be ready to take children in need into the facility. While we are waiting, we will be working with local pastors in the area to get to know them and then hopefully will be able to bring in the needy children as well. Thank you for all the prayer and financial support the church has given us already. We are excited about leaving in about six months and pray that God will continue to open doors and provide financially for the ministry.
