Parish Nurse West Side Baptist Church
Role of the Parish Nurse is to promote the relationship between faith and health serving all age groups "from cradle to grave." In her capacity as Parish Nurse, she assists church members and their families by serving as a:
- Personal Health Counselor who discusses health issues and problems with individuals in their homes, in hospitals, in nursing homes or at the church office; counsels and advises members and others (e.g. entering the health care system, answering questions about medications, management of current health problems, assisting with health care plans for persons getting ready to leave the hospital, etc.);
- Health Educator who both seeks to educate and support individuals and promote an understanding of the relationship between life-style, faith and well-being, presents health related talks to any group from infant to teens to adults within the church, provides current health literature as available;
- Referral Source who acts as a liason to other congregational resources or community services;
- Intepreter who seeks to promote an understanding of the relationship between faith and health.
